About

Alexandra Bégin is a Montreal-based filmmaker and scriptwriter whose work explores the psychological depths of her protagonists, focusing on themes of belonging and the complex emotional experiences that exist beneath the surface of everyday experiences. After earning her MFA in Filmmaking from Concordia University in 2016, she founded Collectif Can,Did, an interdisciplinary artistic collective that debuted at Festival SOIR in 2018. Her short film "Heaven Forbid" won the Persona Association Award at the 13th edition of ClujShorts festival in Romania. Currently, Alexandra is developing her first feature film, "Not Even Past," which was written with support from the Canada Council for the Arts. The film follows Sam, a veteran tree-planter living with untreated complex post-traumatic stress disorder, as she confronts personal challenges on her journey toward healing while attempting to reach her goal of planting her millionth tree.
